classes are divided into the following levels:

Workshop Levels

Please read the following levels carefully before deciding which one is right for you. The level descriptions below are purely a guideline to help you decide which classes to book. Please take into account the following when selecting your classes:

Weekenders tend to attract the hardcore Salsero and very often you will find that the standard of ability is naturally higher as a result. It is NOT recommended therefore, that you select classes at a higher level than your regular class.

You will not be able to switch classes on the day if you find yourself in the wrong class for your level of ability.

Instructors will be asked to teach the level advertised regardless of the participating students and their relative levels of ability. This is to ensure that the workshop schedule is balanced and every student gets a class at their level.

Participating in classes beyond your level of ability, particularly turn pattern classes, will diminish the experience of others.

Imp On1 -Up to 1 yr

You should be confident with the basic steps and can now lead or follow basic turn patterns On1. You should be familiar with inside and outside turns, Copas (in and outs), spinning set ups and be tackling 1 and 2 spins with increasing confidence with a view to perfecting your technique. Imp On2 -Up to 1 yr

You should be confident with the basic steps and can now lead or follow basic turn patterns On2. You should be familiar with inside and outside turns, Copas (in and outs), spinning set ups and be tackling 1 and 2 spins with increasing confidence with a view to perfecting your technique. To help you further, a video example of an Improver On2 turn pattern is available to view at: www.bailasociety.com/public/484.cfm. The demonstration video indicates the skills and content required at Improver level.

Int/Adv On1 1 yr+

Men: You have an extensive repertoire of turn patterns On1 and can recall and skillfully lead combinations with continuity. Leading multiple spins, checks, ‘touch and go’ turns are no problem for you. You are working toward developing your own spinning, styling and interpretation of the music as well as adding to your arsenal of moves! Women: You should be tackling multiple spins in both directions with increasing consistency and confidence. Following complex turn patterns On1 is no longer a challenge and you are working toward interpreting the music and developing your style. Int/Adv On2 1 yr+

Men: You have an extensive repertoire of turn patterns On2 and can recall and skillfully lead combinations with continuity. Leading multiple spins, checks, ‘touch and go’ turns are no problem for you. You are working toward developing your own spinning, styling and interpretation of the music as well as adding to your arsenal of moves! Women: You should be tackling multiple spins in both directions with increasing consistency and confidence.
